Getting the nod to make a radio special about the Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead was the best of several worlds. I can't tell you how much respect I have for Don Cheadle. His debut film as a director reflected the man himself - intelligent, entertaining, thoughtful. The Miles Davis music he picked for the film made my job as a radio producer so easy, an embarrassment of riches. Plus, I got a chance to meet Erin Davis (Miles' son), Vince Wilburn, Jr. (Miles' nephew) and Robert Glasper, so it was a win/win/win/win/win/win/win...
